IKEA furniture is very popular as it is easy to assemble, disassemble and move around for the consumer. It is cost-effective and enables large volumes of furniture to be made, stored and sold and it is great value for the consumer.
The problem with any type of flat pack furniture is when we come to move it around, either from one room to another, moving house or just assembling and disassembling furniture for visiting guests, parts can get lost.

We also have a variety of furniture screws including Furniture Connector Screws which you see on the outside of some cabinets and beds, Furniture Carcass Screws which are often used on the inside of furniture bases and carcasses and not usually seen on the outside, drawer screws, including Drawer Handle Screws and Euro Screws which are used on drawer runners and cabinet hinges.
All bolts, screws and nuts will have a size from M4 to M8. This is the thread size in mm. All of our fixings and fasteners are measured in metric sizes unless otherwise stated.

Half Moon Washers

Half-moon washers are often used in the assembly of beds. A half-moon washer is inserted in the large circular hole with a nut, which will then allow another panel at 90 degrees to be connected to the panel with the half-moon washer. Not all flat-packed beds have these types of fittings, most will use the cross dowels or barrel nuts below.

Cross Dowels or Barrel Nuts

Insert the barrel nut, align using a screwdriver and insert the bolt. |
Tighten the bolt into the barrel nut using an Allen Key for a secure connection. |
Cross Dowels, also known as Barrel Nuts can be purchased on their own or as a set with connector bolts in a choice of colours.
These are inserted into a hole in a panel in desks, tables, beds and other furniture, with the slot visible. The slot is used to turn the barrel nut to align the threaded hole with a hole in the panel which is then used to join another panel or frame to the cross dowel.
We have these available with an M4, M5, M6 and M8 thread size all in various lengths.
